Jennifer Bertrand, PhD, is Director of Academic Policies and Student Services in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa. She leads efforts to translate academic policy into clear, student-centered practice, with a focus on navigating complex student pathways and improving cross-campus coordination. Her work emphasizes building systems that promote student success while supporting staff and faculty with consistent, effective processes. Jennifer brings experience across university, community college, and corporate training settings, with expertise in academic advising, policy development, operations, and student support. She has held previous roles in admissions and advising, including Director of Admissions and pre-pharmacy advisor in the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She began her career teaching biology at two Iowa community colleges. She holds a doctoral degree from Oregon State University and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
