About me
Jerry McKeen has been in financial aid for over 27 years and at the Director level for the past 20. He currently is the Director of Financial Aid at Des Moines Area Community College starting in 2021. Prior to moving to Iowa Jerry had experience in a variety of financial aid arenas. Though he has experience with off-campus financial work, having worked with accreditation of schools and managing multiple State programs for the State of Maryland, he prefers working within a campus community. Jerry has worked in both private and public sector schools beginning at George Washington University in Washington, DC but also at San Juan College in New Mexico, California Lutheran University and now, with DMACC.
Jerry earned his MA degree in Higher Education Administration from George Washington University in where he also worked in their financial aid office.
Jerry has been an active member of State, Regional, and National Student Financial Aid Associations. He has conducted trainings and held leadership positions including President for the New Mexico Student Aid Administrators Association.
Jerry understands that the college financial aid process can seem intimidating and complicated and he advocates for his office to make that process as smooth as possible for all current and potential students and their families.
