About me
Sarah Freestone, M.Ed., FAAC®, is an experienced higher‑education leader and Director of Financial Aid at Drake University, with more than a decade of experience supporting students across Iowa and a strong commitment to access, equity, and student‑centered financial aid. Her career spans private universities, community colleges, and nonprofit organizations, including leadership roles at Iowa State University, Grand View University, Southwestern Community College, and Des Moines Area Community College, as well as seven years with the Young Women’s Resource Center. Sarah holds a master’s degree in Higher Education from Iowa State University and additional credentials in psychology, art therapy, and community college leadership. A Certified Financial Aid Administrator®, she is an active member of MASFAA and a past president of IASFAA.
